Benefits

Our proposals respond to the following concerns:

• This stretch of the M27 and connecting trunk roads has a lack of roadside services and a number of gaps in provision which exceed the maximum spacing for services prescribed in government policy. In particular, there is a significant lack of HGV parking and EV charging infrastructure.
• 86% of HGV facilities across the South East region do not have security features such as lighting, fencing and CCTV.
• The government has a commitment to ban the sale of all new petrol, diesel and hybrid cars by 2035, which will hugely increase the demand for EVs and EV charging points, particularly on motorways and other trunk roads where people undertake longer journeys.

We are offering:

• A facility which supports the safety and welfare of motorway users.
• Over 500 parking spaces for all vehicle types and road users, including provision for more than 50 EV charging spaces and 20 HGV EV spaces (now and in the future).
• £50 million investment.
• More than 250 full time equivalent jobs created.
• Green space and a new biodiverse habitat.
